House speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday announced an initiative to green House office buildings of the Congress, which will include improving their energy efficiency. See this press release for more information:

From that page, you can download a preliminary report by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the House Daniel Beard, as well as an executive summary.

The Senate is working on greening its offices as well.

EETD scientists provided technical assistance and consultation to the CAO to analyze the carbon footprint of these buildings, and the impacts energy use and greenhouse gas emissions of various energy efficiency improvements. The San Francisco Chronicle covered the story in today’s edition:
